She was raised by her Grandmother, the late Cecilia Quaye (Ayi Nye), with support from her family. Adwoa is 52 years old, which is her real age, and a native of Ga Mashie, Jamestown.

Subsequently, Adwoa Smart became friends with Auntie Rose of Obra, who was a trader at the Kaneshie market, and on one of her frequent visits, Auntie Rose (Obi Aberewa) told Adwoa she would like to introduce her to Maame Dokono, who at the time was auditioning people for Obra series after they decided to change the name of the series from Kekete. So, Adwoa Smart and Rose went to Maame Dokono, and she auditioned for Obra.

However, after the audition, Maame Dokono took Adwoa as a daughter and added her to the cast for the Obra drama Series on GTV. While the diminutive actress began featuring in the Obra series, she started working for Maame Dokono at her Spot and later went to live with her. They stayed together for 20 years and were both casts in the Obra Series with other stars like David Dontoh, the late Prince Yawson, Joe Eyison, and Emry Brown. A few years later, the actress joined “Efiewura” on TV3, and following that, she started starring in full Ghanaian movies. She has acted and featured in several of these movies alongside the late Kwame Owusu Ansah, Koo Fori, Agya Koo, and Akrobeto.
