He also knew how to play drums and was a drummer at a church he joined in Krofrom, Kumasi. Agya was also a preacher at the Krofrom Market in Kumasi. At the age of 20, he moved from Kumasi to Accra to hustle, and when he got to Accra, he went to live with a group of young men from different towns in the Ashanti Region who slept at night in front of a store opposite Asantewaa Hotel at Accra Newtown.
However, most of these young men Agya Koo came to live with were cobblers, and to survive in Accra, he also decided to be a cobbler. He started working as a cobbler, moving on foot from Newtown to the surrounding areas, and after some time, he and some of his cobbler friends moved to Sakumono Estate, where they continued their hustle. While Agya was living at Sakumono, one of his cobbler friends, who was still in Newtown, went to work for the late Akosua Dede, a sister of the late Ghanaian musician Captain Newman and also a leader of the “Agoro b3 sor” concert party Group located at Abeka Lapaz, Free Pipe, and he recommended Agya Koo as a gifted musician to the leader of the concert Party Group.
