Biography of Akatakyie
Akatakyie is a Hiplife and highlife Ghanaian music group consisting of two biological brothers; Prince Kwabena Budu Asamani (Kobby Culture) born, on 25th October 1979, and his younger brother, Ebenezer Kwasi Okyere Asamani (King Pharoah) also born on 15th April 1980. Where is Akatakyie from? The two biological brothers were both born at Suhum Okanta in the Eastern Region of Ghana but hail from Abiriw Akuapem.
The duo had several award nominations. They won the Hiplife Song of the year at the Ghana Music Award organized in the year 2000 with their hit song, Odo Esisi Me, off their Ghana Mmaa debut album, which was released in the year 1999. Akatakyie had also been recognized with an Honoree Award at the second edition of the Global Business and Entrepreneurship Summit and Award, 2022.
Akatakyie has worked under three different record label companies; Soul Records headed by executive producer, J.B. Asafo Boakye, Littysam Productions, and HenWorld Records, headed by Henry Geli. Currently, they operate their independent record label called Akatakyie Music, managed by Daniel Quarshie and their road manager, Nana Fosu.

All their albums when released in their particular years were nominated for the Ghana Music Awards. Since their appearance in the Ghana music industry, their music style has not changed. Taking hiplife back, one can say they have really contributed a lot and some call them the real inventors of hiplife, thus, a fusion of highlife and hip-hop.
