Heard began her acting career in 2004 with a small role in the sports drama Friday Night Lights. She then appeared in films such as Alpha Dog, All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, and Never Back Down. Heard gained wider recognition for her role in the film The Stepfather, which was released in 2009.
