Ellen Kyei White was 19 years old when she began her acting journey. The actress was one day sent on an errand to Adum, a suburb in Kumasi, after completing high school, and she met Ghanaian filmmaker and director Jackson K. Bentum who expressed his interest in featuring her in an upcoming movie when they met for the first time.
Ellen Kyei had no plans of becoming an actress. However, after her conversation with the Kumawood director, she grabbed the opportunity to go into acting and played the role of the late Santo’s girlfriend in her first film titled “Okukuseku,” directed by Jackson K. Bentum.
After Kyei’s first film, she traveled abroad and stayed there for years before she returned to Ghana. When she returned to Ghana, she started a boutique business, and after some time, she met director Jackson Bentum again, and they continued working together.
Apart from Jackson Bentum, the actress has worked with other filmmakers in Ghana, like Reverend Samuel Nyamekye, CEO of Miracle Films Productions. Ellen has starred in numerous Ghanaian movies. Also, She has produced about three films under her production, White’s Movie Production.
