Mercy Asiedu was born in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, on May 9, 1971. Her father is a retired police officer. She grew up in the Ashanti Region, living with her Stepmother, father, and stepsisters. Mercy was a devoted Christian at a young age, and in Christo Asafo old Tafo Branch in the Ashanti Region, where she worshipped, she was a singer and involved herself in Church activities.

Mercy Asiedu started singing in Church at a young age in Kristo Asafo old Tafo Branch in Kumasi, Ashanti Region. She later joined Gospel bands like Mo Maria, Asomdwe gospel band, and Nana Kofi Sika Band, and after some time, she learned how to sew and became a seamstress. However, she was in the profession for a year after becoming a professional.

She started her acting career in Christo Asafo, partaking in Drama and other activities. She was introduced to acting by the leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Kwadwo Sarfo Kantanka when Concert Party started, and she became a member of the Christo Asafo Concert Party Group at the National Theatre. It was through the concert party that Mercy was discovered and asked to play the role of Asabea in the movie Asoreba. This was her first film, and after that, she starred in films like Abro Ne Bayie, I know My Right and Old Soldier.

Mercy has played different interesting roles in many movies, and she is also a filmmaker herself. She has produced several local series and movies. She owns a production house called Mesdua Productions. She is also music now and has released a few songs like Pressure.
