Jacob Nana Kwame Etroo, musically known as Quata Budukusu, was born on 4th June 1981 to Mr. and Mrs. Etroo, he attended Airport Police primary and JHS and proceeded to Aggrey Memorial Zion secondary school in Cape Coast. After his senior high school, Quata Budukusu took a professional course in sound engineering. He started his musical career by combining Root African vibes and native Twi and inventing a unique style of rap genre called TONGUE TWISTING – a rhythmic chain of words in the fastest way one could run a tongue with words musically with a perfected style and skill on a beat.

He is regarded as the fastest rapper in Ghana, the inventor of tongue-twisting in Twi, super accomplished songwriter and the most versatile artist who does every genre of music perfectly. Quata Budukusu can rap, sing, do dancehall, pop music and much more. Quata Budukusu is very fluent in English and Twi composition that brands him as an international artist. In 2004, Quata Budukusu released his debut album, WONIE that took over Ghana with a traditional video that went viral on Channel O. He immediately became a compound name with all the hit songs he featured onwards: K.K. Fosu’s OGA, Tinny’s ALETSE and composed MAKOMA MU TOFFEE for Tinny. He also composed MzBel’s TURN ME ON, featured on Becca’s YOU LIED TO ME high life mix, as well as featuring on J.A. Adofo’s MENKO M’NIGYE.

Quata Budukusu took a break and return with the INDEPENDENCE Album which featured hit songs like BABY, the first English and Twi pop song, and PRETTY FACE featuring VIP which became the biggest launch in the history of Hiplife music in Ghana. Quata Budukusu is the first rap artist Kojo Antwi, the maestro, featured on ESU NKETSENKETSE from his SEBO album. Quata Budukusu is like a phantom presence felt to the fullest yet invisible.

Quata Budukusu is currently signed to Bakus Records and Entertainment after six years break from active music. He has over hundred songs recorded for his new album, Quantum Legacy, to be released later this year and which comes in all genres. It is the most versatile masterpiece yet to hit the world.

He is currently back from hibernation with a lot of hit songs to include One life to live, which is doing great in South Africa and the world, Wind and Go Low, Ohia, Pumpum Shots, U Too Bad. Quata Budukusu was recently in South Africa where he recorded and shot a video for a song, Ginger, which featured Uhuru. In Twi, English and Jamaican Patois, Quata Budukusu brings words to life with his rhymes, rhythms, melodies and tongue-twisting rap skill and broad composition, the one word for Quata Budukusu is MUSIC. Quata Budukusu’s ability to combine both English and Twi Language makes him a brand name that will stand and represent any company and his flawless looks and swag can sell any product.

On 18 August 2017, Quata Budukusu released Quantum Riddim (his first album under Bakus Records) distributed by VPAL music, the distribution wing of VP records. Quantum Riddim is a 13-tracked album delivered on just a single beat. The release of Quantum Riddim was historic since no one has ever recorded 13 songs using same beat/riddim. It was therefore not surprising that the album, Quantum Riddim, was on the list to be considered for a 2018 Grammy Award nomination in the reggae category. Budukusu is a member of the Grammy’s academy Texas chapter.

Ghanaian artiste Jacob Etroo, popularly known as Quata Budukusu has been honoured at the 2021 edition of the Upper West Music Awards.

He was awarded as the Ghanaian Artiste of the Year for his tremendous support and love for talents from the entertainment industry in northern part of the country.

The awards which took place on the 7th January, 2022 at the In-Service Training Centre at WA, saw an epic performance from talents across the region.

There was a surprise performance by Quata Budukusu which got the crowd jamming and even asking for more

As part of giving back the love and support shown him by the good people of Wa, Budukusu promised to do a free collaboration with the Artiste of the Year, Sambwoy.

The ‘Sangolo’ and ‘Born Winner’ hitmaker also vowed to open a new world standard recording studio in the region just to help grow more talents from the land.

Signed to Bakus Entertainment, an international record label in America Quata’s works are also distributed by V Pal Music in New York, Tuff Gong International Jamaica, AFRI Cori Music in South Africa, with Davcado Promotions  as promoter and publicist.

He is the first artiste to ever record 13 songs on one beat, a world record that got him his first Grammy consideration.

Quata, a Grammy Academy Voting member at the Texas chapter, has had 19 Grammy consideration in 5 years.

He is also the CEO of Crocs Recording studios Located at Navrongo.
